ACEing Autism

ACEing Autism is a mission for children with autism to grow, develop, and benefit from social connections and fitness through affordable tennis programming, uniquely serving individual needs while filling a national void for this growing and worthy population.
East Lake Pet Orphanage
Biweekly | Saturdays , 2pm-4pm

Dog and Kitty City
Biweekly | Sundays, 2pm-4pm
Dog and Kitty City is the only non-kill shelter in Dallas County. This shelter is special because it gives dogs and cats a second chance without a time limit. Stray dogs and cats in the Dallas are a large issue but with the help of this shelter they can find their new and loving homes. Volunteers are able to socialize and train cats/dogs to make them more adoptable while ensuring dogs stay healthy through regular walks and exercise.
E-Quest
Biweekly | Saturdays, 10am-12pm
E-quest is a therapeutic riding center for children and military veterans with physical and mental disabilities or illnesses. Riding horses provides provides physical therapy as well as emotional therapy by forming a connection with their horse. During this trip, we help organize the barn, feed and water the horses, and work some of E-quest’s events for their clients.
Extended Service Committee
Monthly | Saturdays or Sundays
Extended Service Committee is a unique Mustang Heroes trip that visits a variety of community partners each semester, allowing our members to do different activities on each service trip and get to know various Dallas organizations. This semester we are focusing on helping feed the Dallas homeless population, cleaning White Rock Lake, and empowering underprivileged children through creativity.
Feed My Starving Children
Monthly | Fridays, 4:30pm-6:15pm
At FMSC, volunteers will pack meals for children suffering from hunger and food insecurities worldwide. As a non-profit, FMSC’s goal is to end hunger in children throughout the world and give them the opportunities to grow. FMSC works with food distribution partners that stay with communities for long periods of time, to empower communities to move from hunger relief to development.
Habitat for Humanity
Monthly | Saturdays, 7:45am-12:00pm
Habitat for Humanity works to fulfill their vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Through this project, we work to help make our surrounding Dallas community a better place by helping build homes for those in need.
Incarnation House
Biweekly | Thursdays, 5:30pm-8pm
Incarnation House is an after school program for at-risk teens in Dallas. This project will consist of students going to Incarnation House to be mentors and provide fun activities for the students to participate in. Some examples include essay help, college advice, basketball, and other games. We will also be invited to eat dinner with the kids as a time to get to know them more.
Juliette Fowler Communities Senior Living
Monthly | Saturdays, 2pm-3pm
JFC Senior Living is a nonprofit organization that was founded to serve elders. Heroes will talk to the senior citizens and participate in activities to contribute in elderly support.
Meals That Heal
Biweekly | Sundays, 3pm-7pm
Meals That Heal is a program where volunteers can cook a meal for pediatric patients and their families residing in the Dallas Ronald McDonald House. We will plan, prepare, cook, and serve a full menu (entree, sides, salads, desserts) once a month.
OurCalling
Monthly | Saturdays, 8:30am-12:30pm
OurCalling is a homeless shelter and resource center in the Dallas area. We will help prepare and serve food and coffee, help beautify and maintain their facility by cleaning walls, picking up litter, polishing stainless steel surfaces, organizing and stocking resources, and taking part in other activities geared to help OurCalling serve our local homeless community.
Parsons House
Monthly | Saturdays, 10am-12pm
Parsons House is an assisted living home. Heroes create a welcoming space by participating in activities with the residents and helping plan events. We build close bonds with the elderly by talking with them and allowing them to share their stories
Promise of Peace
Monthly | Sundays, 11pm-1pm
Promise of Peace is a nonprofit organization that uses community gardens to feed, educate and bring together the local Dallas community. Heroes volunteer in the gardens by planting and weeding, while interacting with other members outside of the SMU community.
Texas PawPrints
Monthly | Sundays, 1:30pm-6pm
Help out with stray cats and kitten adoptions who are in need of a loving home.
Vickery Trading Company
Biweekly | Tuesdays, 1pm-5pm
In this project, we will help the training refugees by organizing fabric, lining up pants, etc. We will facilitate any activities that need to be done in the company. This will be a relaxing and fun time to get to know the kind refugees.
VNA Meals on Wheels
Monthly | Sundays, 10am-12pm
Loneliness is a big problem among senior citizens and many are dissuaded from getting pets for company because of the costs and necessities for care. The VNA Pet Program helps reduce the costs of having pets and makes it more convenient by delivering pre made pet care packages to their homes. In this project, we will be preparing and creating holiday pet care packages that will be delivered to senior citizens.
